FAQ

If you have any questions about the camp or need more information, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help and look forward to hearing from you!

Q: Who can participate in VNC?
A: Christian youth aged 18 and above from any country are welcome to join. We value diversity and welcome participants from all backgrounds and denominations.

Q: Do I need to be fluent in English?
A: No, you don’t need good English! Even with very basic words, you can join. Our staff members are fluent in both English and Korean.

Q: Is this camp affiliated with a specific denomination?
A: VNC is non-denominational and welcomes Christians from all traditions who share our core values of faith, community, and service.

Q: What is the total cost of the camp?
A: The participation fee is set at $3,000, but ACE provides $1,500 in financial support to each participant.

Q: Do I need a visa to attend?
A: Korean citizens can use ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) to enter the USA. It’s quick and easy! If you have citizenship from another country, please check if you need a visa for US entry.

Q: What should I pack for the camp?
A: We’ll send a detailed packing list after registration, but essentials include clothing for both city activities and hiking, a Bible, journal, and personal items. California summers are warm, but nights can be cool in the mountains.

Q: How will we travel during the road trip?
A: We’ll travel together in a 15-passenger van. This allows our group to stay connected while enjoying the journey between destinations across the American West.

Q: How physically demanding is the road trip portion?
A: Due to America’s vast size, our camp program covering many parts of the Western US involves unavoidable long-distance travel. Some days may include more than 5 hours of driving. This could be challenging for those who get severe motion sickness or have health/stamina issues. Please consider your physical condition before applying.

Q: Will there be free time during the camp?
A: The camp schedule is quite full with various programs and site visits, making it difficult to provide extensive individual free time. However, we carefully monitor participants’ energy levels and adjust the pace accordingly to ensure everyone doesn’t get too tired. We balance structured activities with adequate rest periods throughout the journey.

Q: Can I arrive earlier or stay longer?
A: While ACE cannot provide support for early arrivals or extended stays, you are completely free to arrange your own personal schedule before or after the camp dates. This would be entirely your responsibility to plan and manage.

Q: What if I have dietary restrictions?
A: Meals during VNC are not prepared by our team but taken at restaurants near our visiting locations. This means we cannot guarantee perfect accommodation for all individual dietary needs. However, the VNC committee will do our best to consider your restrictions, and America generally offers diverse food options due to its multicultural nature. We’ll discuss your specific dietary needs during the pre-confirmation interview to ensure we can properly support you.

Q: How can I stay connected with other participants after the camp?
A: Past participants maintain connection through regular Zoom meetings where they share updates and stay in touch. ACE, the organization behind VNC, also works to provide opportunities connecting VNC alumni with various new programs and notable speakers. We strive to maintain and strengthen the community bonds formed during camp long after the program ends.
